Etihad Airways conducted the first commercial flight of its newly added Airbus A321LR aircraft on 1 August 2025. Flight Y414 took off from Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and arrived in Phuket, Thailand’s popular tourist destination. This flight marked a concrete step in the airline’s vision to elevate luxury travel experiences on short- and medium-haul routes.
The first of Etihad’s 30 ordered A321LR aircraft was delivered last week. These next-generation aircraft are equipped with high levels of comfort across all cabin classes, innovative cabin design, and high-speed connectivity. This makes the A321LR a key component of Etihad’s strategy to enhance passenger satisfaction.
Arik De, Etihad Airways’ Vice President of Revenue and Commerce, made the following remarks:
“The A321LR symbolizes our goal of delivering extraordinary experiences on every route we serve. It allows us to extend the refinement of our wide-body cabins, including our renowned First experience, to more destinations and more passengers than ever before.”
With its new A321LR aircraft, Etihad aims to make a significant impact in the market by bringing the luxury cabin experience of wide-body jets to shorter routes. Alongside these new aircraft, the airline is also strengthening its competitiveness in both comfort and connected travel.
