Four people on board a private Epic Aircraft E1000 crashed near Emerald Mountain in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, lost their lives. The FAA and NTSB have launched an investigation into the accident.
There were no survivors in the plane crash that occurred on the southern slope of Emerald Mountain in the U.S. state of Colorado. The identities of the four people on board the Epic E1000 private aircraft, which had departed from Kansas City and was approaching Steamboat Springs, have been announced.
The Crash Occurred Close to Midnight
The incident occurred close to midnight on February 13 near Steamboat Springs. The Routt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a plane crash on the southern slope of Emerald Mountain.
Routt County Sheriff Doug Scherar stated that the six-seat Epic E1000 private aircraft was on approach to Yampa Valley Regional Airport (locally known as Bob Adams Airport) at the time of the crash. The aircraft was reported to have departed a few hours earlier from Kansas City Downtown Airport.
FAA and NTSB Launch Investigation
Following the accident, teams from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities announced the identities of those who died in the crash but stated that details regarding the cause of the accident and who was operating the aircraft will become clear as part of the investigation.
Identities of the Victims Announced
According to the New York Post, those who lost their lives in the crash were:
- 38-year-old Austin Huskey
- 47-year-old Aaron Stokes
- 21-year-old Jakson Stokes
- 21-year-old Colin
The tragic news was delivered to the victims’ families on Friday.
Well-Known Figures in the Business World
Austin Huskey was reported to be a third-generation executive of Huskey Building Supply, a company operating in Franklin, Tennessee. The company confirmed the unexpected passing of their CEO in a statement shared on Instagram.
The statement described Huskey as “a fearless leader, a devoted father and husband,” noting that he was a manager who valued his employees.
Aaron Stokes was known as the founder of Shop Fix Academy. He had a 25-year entrepreneurial career, operated five auto repair shops, and hosted a radio program titled “Car Repair with Aaron Stokes.”
In published condolence messages, Stokes was described as “a visionary entrepreneur and mentor.”
Investigation Ongoing
The cause of the crash is being examined from multiple angles, including possible meteorological conditions, technical failure, or human factors. The NTSB’s preliminary report is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
