Emirates has suspended multiple routes that ordinarily see the Airbus A380, which is due to both the ongoing war in Iran and reconfiguring two-class 615-seat aircraft to three-class, 569-seaters. The latest information is that 11 of them will see the double-decker quadjet again between June 26 (the day after this article was published) and August 1.
It is possible that last-minute changes could materialize, although the short lead-in time for some means this is unlikely. The resumption date of several routes had already been pushed back. For example, superjumbo service from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Glasgow International Airport (GLA) was to return on July 1, but has been pushed back by another month.
These Six Routes Will See Emirates’ A380s Again Through July 1
Using Cirium Diio data to explore Emirates’ full double-decker network shows that the following six airport pairs are scheduled to see the carrier’s equipment again between June 26 and July 1. This reflects what is known as of June 25 and is subject to change. Obviously, all of them are far from being among Emirates’ longest flights.
Earlier this week, Aeroroutes showed that Emirates will no longer remove the A380 from DXB to Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) in July. The airport serves Spain’s second most populous city, which is also a very popular tourist destination. As the type has been deployed to BCN for all of June, this route is not mentioned below. It will simply continue to operate.
Daily, rising to two daily from August 1 and three daily from December 1

These Five A380 Routes Are Due To Return Later This Summer
The latest plan will see the double-decker resume service from DXB to Perth International Airport (PER) on July 27. A daily service on the four-class, 468-seat configuration will be available. The capital of Western Australia was previously down to see the superjumbo on July 1. The 328-seat Boeing 777-300ER is currently deployed, which will switch to 324-seater, with fewer first and business seats, on July 1. Virgin Australia’s PER-Doha service, which operates on behalf of Qatar Airways, will not return until December.
Emirates is due to resume A380 flights to four destinations on August 1: GLA (daily 519 seats), Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG; daily 569 seats), Osaka International Airport (KIX; daily 468 seats), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD; daily 489 seats). They all currently see the 777-300ER. Only PRG flights are on the two-class, 421-seat layout, while IAD sees the 354-seater, which has more first and business class seats.
The Gulf giant began GLA flights more than 22 years ago, on April 10, 2004. The Airbus A330-200 was initially used, followed by the 777-300ER. The A340-300 appeared in 2012, while the 777-200LR was used at times. The A380 operated a one-off service on April 10, 2014, to celebrate the carrier’s tenth anniversary at the airport (the photo above is from that event). Regular A380 flights began in 2019 and returned in 2023.
Data from the UK Civil Aviation Authority shows that Emirates transported 316,335 passengers to/from GLA in 2025. As Cirium shows 377,376 seats for sale, the airline achieved a seat factor of 83.8%, which was higher than the carrier’s network-wide result (78.4%). As always, it is about how it is achieved. It should not be considered in isolation.
Booking data suggests that approximately 64% of GLA passengers continued elsewhere via DXB. The ten most popular markets were Bangkok, Singapore, Mauritius, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Hong Kong, Brisbane, Tokyo, and Phuket. More people flew to/from Australia than any other country.
