EGYPTAIR has become the first operator of this aircraft type in North Africa by taking delivery of the first of the 16 Airbus A350-900 aircraft it ordered. The new-generation wide-body aircraft will support the airline’s long-haul fleet modernisation while contributing to the expansion of its Cairo-based network towards the US West Coast and North Asia.
A NEW ERA IN LONG-HAUL FLIGHTS
With the addition of the A350-900 to its fleet, EGYPTAIR aims to expand its direct flight network, particularly to long-haul destinations such as the US West Coast and North Asia. The new aircraft sits at the centre of the airline’s passenger comfort, fuel efficiency, and environmental sustainability goals.
EGYPTAIR’s current Airbus fleet consists of:
- 8 A320neo aircraft,
- 7 A321neo aircraft,
- 5 A330-200P2F aircraft, and 11 A330 Family aircraft.
NEW-GENERATION AIRSPACE CABIN
The delivered A350-900 features a two-class cabin configuration:
- 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access
- 310 Economy Class seats
The latest-generation Airspace cabin design aims to elevate the long-haul flight experience for both passengers and crew with advanced ergonomics, wider personal spaces, and enhanced comfort features.
A BENCHMARK AIRCRAFT IN EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Airbus A350 sets new standards in intercontinental travel with a nonstop range of up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres).
Thanks to:
- New-generation Rolls-Royce engines,
- Advanced aerodynamic structure,
- Lightweight composite materials,
compared with previous-generation competing aircraft, it provides up to 25% advantages in:
- Fuel consumption,
- Operating costs,
- Carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.
SAF COMPATIBILITY AND FUTURE TARGETS
Like all Airbus aircraft, the A350 is currently capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to achieve 100% SAF compatibility by 2030.
GLOBAL DEMAND IS INCREASING
As of the end of January 2026, the A350 Family maintained its strong position in the wide-body aircraft segment with more than 1,500 orders from 67 customers worldwide.
