Tourist arrivals to Egypt are expected to reach around 11.63 million by 2030, supported by growing demand from key international markets and efforts to diversify the country’s tourism base.
Tourist arrivals from the Middle East are forecast to reach approximately 3.92 million in 2026, while Egypt is expected to welcome around 677,000 visitors from the United States.
The projections highlight the potential for further expansion in Egypt’s tourism sector, while underscoring the importance of broadening the range of source markets to sustain growth and reduce dependence on traditional destinations.
China has been identified as a particularly high-potential market, with Egypt targeting 1 million Chinese tourists. Expanding the Chinese market could help broaden the country’s tourism demand base and provide an additional source of visitors alongside established markets.
However, the report identified several factors that could affect the pace of growth, including regional geopolitical tensions, disruptions to air traffic and rising jet fuel prices, which could increase travel costs and weigh on international tourism demand.
“Keeping pace with the expected rise in tourist arrivals will also require expanding hotel capacity, developing the skills of hospitality workers and improving service quality to maintain the competitiveness of Egypt’s tourism destination and enhance visitor satisfaction,” the report said.
The report noted that the economic potential of tourism extends beyond increasing visitor numbers, with greater emphasis needed on maximizing the value generated by each tourist through higher average spending and longer stays.
This could be supported by diversifying Egypt’s tourism products and strengthening links between tourism and other sectors of the economy, including transport, retail, entertainment and cultural industries.
Expanding hotel investment, developing human capital and improving service quality will therefore remain important to capitalizing on projected growth, while diversifying source markets could help the sector respond to changes in global and regional travel patterns.
The report's projections suggest that converting higher tourist arrivals into greater economic value will depend not only on attracting more visitors, but also on increasing their spending, extending their stays and enhancing the overall tourism experience.
