Tens of thousands of passengers were affected, flights diverted to different cities

Copenhagen and Oslo, the busiest airports in Denmark and Norway, were temporarily closed to flights due to drones detected in their airspace. The decision caused major disruption for thousands of passengers.

20,000 Passengers Affected

At Copenhagen Airport last night, 2 to 3 large drones were detected in the airspace. As a result, take-offs and landings were halted for security reasons. At the same time, Oslo International Airport also remained closed for about three hours.

Thirty-one flights scheduled to depart from Copenhagen were diverted to Billund and Aarhus airports in Denmark, and Malmö and Gothenburg airports in Sweden. According to Flightradar24 data, around 20,000 passengers were affected by the incident.

Police: “People Are Not in Danger”

In a statement made in the morning, Danish police said, “We do not assess that people are in danger.” The drones were reported to have been controlled by a “skilled operator” and approached from different directions. However, it is still unknown who was operating the devices. The drones disappeared from the area shortly afterwards.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities stated that there is currently no direct link between the incidents in Denmark and Norway, but the matter is being investigated in detail. The incident has once again brought air safety discussions in Europe back into focus.
