One of the world’s leading airlines, Delta Air Lines, has placed a firm order with Airbus for 31 next-generation widebody aircraft to strengthen its long-haul operations and premium passenger experience. The order includes 16 A330-900 (A330neo) and 15 A350-900 aircraft.
Delta’s Widebody Fleet Continues to Grow
Upon completion of deliveries, Delta Air Lines’ widebody fleet will consist of a total of 134 aircraft, including 55 A330neo and 79 A350 aircraft. The airline currently operates more than 500 Airbus aircraft across the entire commercial aircraft family, ranging from the A220 to the A350-900. Delta’s existing Airbus order backlog, including A350-1000 models, stands at approximately 200 aircraft.
Ed Bastian: Focused on Premium and Efficiency
Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian made the following remarks regarding the agreement:

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, commented on Delta’s choice as follows:

Next-Generation Technology and Sustainability
Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo offers a range of 8,100 nautical miles (15,000 km) and delivers up to 25% improvements in fuel consumption, operating costs and CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation competitors.
Regarded as the world’s most modern widebody aircraft, the A350 sets new standards for intercontinental flights with a range of 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km). Its advanced aerodynamic design, lightweight composite materials and next-generation Rolls-Royce engines ensure high efficiency and superior passenger comfort.
Both aircraft feature Airbus’s signature Airspace cabin concept, offering passengers a quieter, more spacious and technologically advanced flight experience.
SAF Compatibility and Future Targets
Like all Airbus aircraft, the A330neo and A350 are capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus continues to pursue its goal of achieving 100% SAF compatibility across its aircraft by 2030.
Global Demand Continues to Rise
- As of the end of December 2025,
- the A350 family has received over 1,500 orders from 67 customers,
- while the A330 family has accumulated more than 1,900 orders worldwide.
