US President Donald Trump, in a statement regarding the protests in Iran, said that if people lose their lives during the demonstrations, the Washington administration would respond “very harshly.”
Speaking on “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” Trump stated that large crowds had gathered during the protests in Iran and that stampedes had occurred from time to time. Noting that there had been loss of life during the protests, Trump said that it was not clear who was responsible, but added that Iran would pay a heavy price if the violence escalated.
President Trump used the following statements in his remarks:
“They are in very bad shape. I made this very clear to them: if they start killing people—which they tend to do during uprisings—if they do that, we will hit Iran very hard.”
