Turkish Airlines (THY) and GE Aerospace have signed a significant agreement for the sale of 8 GE90-110B engines, which will power four Turkish Cargo Boeing 777 freighters. This agreement includes both engine sales and TrueChoice™ Flight Hour services. Levent Konukcu, THY Deputy General Manager for Investment and Strategy, stated that this agreement will increase the efficiency of their cargo fleet and reinforce Turkish Cargo’s strong global position.

Russell Stokes, President and CEO of GE Aerospace Commercial Engines and Services, emphasized that the GE90 engine is distinguished by its high reliability and environmental benefits. Stokes expressed their delight in contributing to THY’s cargo capacity with this agreement.
THY’s 2033 Goals and Vision for a Global Logistics Center
Turkish Airlines aims to double the amount of cargo it carries by 2033. With a vast fleet of 456 aircraft flying to over 340 destinations worldwide, THY serves more than 130 countries through Turkish Cargo. The addition of GE90-110B engines to the fleet will support Istanbul’s goal of becoming a global logistics hub.
Technological Features of GE90 Engines
The GE90 engines feature innovative attributes such as composite fan blades and compressor sensors produced using additive manufacturing methods. GE Aerospace continuously develops engine components to enhance fuel efficiency and durability.
