A new milestone has been reached in China’s domestically produced commercial aircraft. The first C909 medical rescue aircraft was delivered to China Flying Dragon General Aviation Co., Ltd. on 9 September 2025 and entered service.
The China-made C909 medical rescue aircraft has joined the fleet to be used in areas such as emergency rescue, telemedicine, and critical patient transfer. With a maximum payload capacity of 10 tonnes and a range of up to 3,700 kilometres, the aircraft is capable of taking off and landing at high-altitude airports, enabling it to operate in challenging terrains.
The cabin design of the aircraft can be flexibly configured according to different rescue scenarios. This provides wide-ranging use, from transporting medical teams to delivering aid to remote areas and transferring critical patients.
National and Global Network Goal
China Flying Dragon General Aviation, the first general aviation company approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), has been providing air support for national emergency operations for many years. As the first operator of the C909, the company plans to establish an integrated nationwide air medical rescue network.
In addition, under the “Belt and Road” initiative, the C909 is also expected to operate in international markets and contribute to the establishment of a global medical service network.
