A NetJets Cessna 680A Citation Latitude has crashed on a highway in Texas. The aircraft had been flying to Austin, but came down on Loop 20 after trying to divert to Laredo. Emergency services have confirmed that at least one person has died as a result, with the rest of those on board the private jet having been taken to hospital. Dramatic online footage showed bystanders’ heroic rescue efforts.
NetJets has confirmed that the aircraft involved in the accident was one of its own, and the company is working with the relevant authorities in the aftermath of the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States of America has also been dispatched to investigate the accident, which seems to have caused the private jet to break in half upon impacting the central reservation.
