Boeing delivered 46 aircraft in January and received 103 net orders. It surpassed Airbus with strong sales of the 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner.
Strong Start to the Year from Boeing
US aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced on Tuesday that it delivered a total of 46 aircraft in January. The company stated that this figure represents the third-highest January delivery performance in its history.
Of the delivered aircraft, 38 were the best-selling 737 MAX model, while five 787 Dreamliners were also delivered to customers.
The number of deliveries in January remained below the 63 deliveries recorded in December 2025, typically the busiest period of the year.
Advantage Over Airbus
Boeing surpassed its European rival Airbus, which delivered 19 aircraft in the same period. Airbus’ January deliveries consisted of 15 A320neo family aircraft, three A220s, and one A350 model.
Wall Street analysts closely monitor monthly delivery data because aircraft manufacturers collect a significant portion of their revenues at the time of delivery.
103 Net New Orders
Boeing received 107 new orders in January, recorded four cancellations, and reached a total of 103 net new orders. In the same month, Airbus’ net order total was announced as 49.
Aviation Capital Group (ACG), aiming to become one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies, placed an order with Boeing for a total of 50 737 MAX aircraft, consisting of 25 units of the 737-8 and 25 units of the 737-10.
Air India finalized an order for 20 737-8 aircraft and also publicly disclosed its previously placed order for 10 737-10 aircraft.
Strong Demand for the 787 Dreamliner
Boeing also received 34 new orders for the 787 Dreamliner. Of these orders, 30 came from Delta Air Lines and four from Taiwan-based EVA Airways.
Meanwhile, two 737 orders (from BOC Aviation and Air Europa) and two 787 orders from Papua New Guinea-based Air Niugini were cancelled.
First Time in Seven Years
In 2025, Boeing managed to surpass Airbus in total orders for the first time in seven years. January data indicates that the company has also made a strong start to 2026.
