Aruba’s Riu Palace Gets Full Makeover on Palm Beach

RIU Hotels & Resorts has reopened Hotel Riu Palace Aruba following a full renovation. The property is located on Palm Beach, a stretch of coastline ranked among the top beaches in the Caribbean. The chain has operated on the island since 2007.

The renovation touched every corner of the lobby, preserving the classic look tied to the Riu Palace brand while adding natural light and updated materials for a more contemporary feel. Every guestroom has been refurbished with light tones and natural materials and finishes.

Guestrooms with the strongest views now fall under the Elite Club, the chain’s adults-only premium tier offered at its Riu Palace properties. Of those, 31 guestrooms include a private pool. Guests booked into Elite Club get access to a dedicated restaurant, a private sun lounger area and beachside bar service.

In the F&B department, RIU reworked menus, ingredients and preparation methods across its restaurant lineup, along with interior design and service pacing. The property now includes a Steakhouse; the main restaurant, Don Nicolás, serving an international buffet; the fusion restaurant Krystal; the Asian restaurant Sayuri; the Italian restaurant Milano; and two casual spots, Pepe’s Food and Tiki Taco.

Bar options include the lobby bar, Daiquiri; Cappuchino, a renovated cafe that now also serves as an ice cream parlor; the plaza bar, Barry’s; the poolside bar, Palm Beach; and American Country, a climate-controlled sports bar.

Adult guests also get access to the Riu Party, held every Friday at the neighboring Hotel Riu Palace Antillas. The property still caters to families, with programming for all ages and a kids club, RIU Land. The oceanfront garden and pool areas were also redone as part of the renovation.

With the reopening, RIU strengthens its position in the upscale Caribbean segment, updating the guest experience at one of its longest-running properties on the island.
