Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is preparing to serve approximately 1.4 million passengers during the autumn holiday period from 17 October to 2 November. Around 275,000 passengers are expected to use the airport during the first weekend of the holiday.
Busy Autumn Traffic at BER
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is getting ready for heavy passenger traffic during the autumn holiday season. Between 17 October and 2 November 2025, a total of 1.4 million passengers are expected to pass through the airport.
Approximately 275,000 passengers will travel during the first weekend of the holiday. During this period, a total of 9,400 aircraft movements are scheduled at BER.
Mediterranean Routes on Top: Antalya and Mallorca Lead
During the autumn period, Mediterranean destinations remain among the most popular routes.
- Antalya ranked first with 491 take-offs and landings.
- It is followed by Mallorca with 332 flights.
- More than 2,000 flights will be operated solely on routes to Turkey and Spain.
Among the airlines, easyJet (1,372 flights), Ryanair (1,342 flights), and Eurowings (874 flights) stand out as the carriers offering the most connections.
Systems Fully Renewed After Cyberattack
Following the recent cyberattack targeting Collins Aerospace systems, BER management announced that all systems have been fully restored.
Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, stated:
“After the challenging weeks following the cyberattack, we have worked intensively with our partners to prepare for the holiday season. The high demand shows that air travel remains important for many people.”
Officials noted that some minor delays might occur and advised passengers to arrive early, check in online, and complete parking reservations in advance.
New Applications to Facilitate Passenger Experience
The airport management has introduced several digital services to make travel easier for passengers.
These include:
- Self-service baggage drop-off machines
- BER Runway security time-slot reservation system
- EasyPass system for fast passport control
In addition, modern IT scanners in Terminals 1 and 2 allow electronic devices and liquids to remain in bags during security screening. However, the 100 ml limit for liquids still applies.
Transport and Services
During the holiday period, from 28 October to 3 November, S-Bahn services (S9, S45) between Grünbergallee and Baumschulenweg will be suspended. Replacement bus services will operate on this route.
Airport shops and restaurants will remain open, with REWE and Kamps stores in Terminal 1 providing 24/7 service.
Passengers can also access digital coupons, travel tips, and long-distance ticket booking services through the BER mobile app.
