Angolan Businessman Caught Attempting to Smuggle Cocaine to Istanbul!

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 42-year-old Angolan businessman Mbala Dajou Abuba at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) during an operation targeting a large-scale cocaine smuggling attempt. Abuba was found attempting to transport 1.829 kilograms of cocaine capsules to Istanbul.

Cocaine Capsules Detected Through Body Scan

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi stated that Abuba was apprehended last Tuesday while trying to board Egypt Air flight MS 880 to Istanbul, with a layover in Cairo. A body scan confirmed the suspect was carrying drugs internally, and under observation, he expelled 120 cocaine capsules over the course of seven bowel movements.

Ongoing Anti-Drug Trafficking Operations

At Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, NDLEA officers also arrested Okeke Igwe, a car parts dealer, while he was attempting to ship 1.1 kilograms of cocaine to Angola, hidden inside vehicle propellers. The same operation extended to large-scale raids across the states of Edo, Delta, and Oyo.
