The incident occurred during a flight operated by BA Euroflyer, a wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways.
Airbus A320 Experienced Departure Delay
The Airbus A320 registered as G-EUUV departed later than scheduled from Ibiza Airport.
Originally scheduled to depart at 13:55 CEST, flight BA2681 eventually took off at 15:22 following the delay.
According to initial reports, the pilots noticed an unidentified odor in the cockpit during the flight.
Pilots Requested Medical Assistance
Acting as a precaution, the flight crew informed air traffic control and requested medical support for crew members upon arrival.
Despite the issue in the cockpit, the flight continued on its planned route and landed safely at London Gatwick Airport after approximately two hours in the air.
Extraordinary Precautions Taken on the Runway
Immediately after landing, multiple fire engines, emergency response units, and support personnel were dispatched to the runway as part of standard safety procedures.
