A piece believed to belong to an unmanned aerial vehicle was found on the Black Sea coast in Ordu’s Ünye district. According to initial assessments, the object may belong to a Geran-2 type kamikaze UAV, while extensive security measures were implemented in the area.
Drone Debris Washes Ashore in Ordu Ünye
A suspicious object that washed ashore in Ordu’s Ünye district mobilized security forces. The piece, noticed by citizens in the morning along the coastal section of Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood, was identified in initial assessments as belonging to an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
Following the report, police, gendarmerie, and Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the scene. Extensive security measures were taken in the area, and the shoreline was placed under a controlled security perimeter.
Suspected Geran-2 Type Kamikaze UAV
Initial technical examinations suggest the object may belong to a Geran-2 type unmanned aerial vehicle, commonly referred to publicly as a “kamikaze UAV.” Authorities stated that a detailed analysis will be conducted to clarify the origin and technical characteristics of the debris.
Special Team Dispatched from Istanbul
An investigation has been launched regarding the incident, and it was learned that teams from the Underwater Defence (SAS) Group Command based in Istanbul will be deployed to the region. It was stated that the debris will be disposed of in a controlled manner following technical examinations by expert teams.
Authorities warned citizens not to approach the coastal area for safety reasons.
