AJet, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, successfully completed its first international flight from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, after obtaining its own flight operation license. AJet will operate four weekly flights to Skopje on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Remarks by General Manager Kerem Sarp
AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp announced the start of flights to Skopje and mentioned Cairo as the next destination. Sarp stated, “We are working on other routes as well. We will open international frequencies from Ankara. We aim to connect Ankara to all European capitals. We aim to reach 150 aircraft in 5 years and 200 aircraft in 10 years. Our goal is to serve 113 cities in 44 countries within 10 years. We aim for an average annual growth of 10-15% on international routes and 6% on domestic routes over the next 10 years.”
Passenger Happiness Prioritized
Kerem Sarp emphasized that special measures have been taken to avoid delays. “We will do our utmost to avoid delays of over an hour. To dispel the perception of delays associated with AJet, we have 5 backup aircraft in Ankara and 7 in Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. Keeping 12 aircraft on standby is costly, but we are not concerned about that. Our focus is not on costs but on ensuring the happiness of our passengers,” he said.
Openness to Criticism and Legal Measures
Kerem Sarp stated that AJet is open to criticism but will exercise its legal rights concerning false information shared on social media. “We will not tolerate deliberate statements that harm our brand image. Our media and legal teams are working on this. We want to spend our time addressing the concerns of genuinely aggrieved passengers,” he said.
Inflight Internet Service
Kerem Sarp mentioned that in-flight internet service will be available by the end of 2025, with collaboration between Turkish Airlines subsidiary TCI and Türksat. Emphasizing that AJet is not for sale, Sarp said, “It is 100% a Turkish Airlines subsidiary and will remain so. Every day, there are rumors about it being sold. Selling this company is not on our agenda in any way,” he stated.
