The US/Israel–Iran tension in the Middle East has impacted air transportation. While flights from Türkiye to many countries have been temporarily suspended, services to the United Arab Emirates continue in a controlled manner.
Why Were Flights Suspended?
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the rising tensions and conflicts in the Middle East have directly affected civil aviation. It was reported that the airspaces of many countries in the region have been closed, particularly due to developments between the US/Israel and Iran.
In line with the decision taken due to security risks, Turkish airline companies have reorganised their flight plans.
Which Countries Have Closed Airspace?
According to the information provided by Minister Uraloğlu, the airspaces of the following countries have been completely closed:
- Syria (except Aleppo)
- Iraq
- Iran
- Israel
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- Bahrain
Within this scope, flights to these countries have been temporarily suspended.
Until When Are Flights Cancelled?
According to the statement, Turkish airline companies will not operate flights to the closed airspaces until March 31.
Authorities stated that the process will be reassessed depending on the security situation in the region.
Are UAE Flights Continuing?
In the statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that flights to the United Arab Emirates have not been completely suspended, but are continuing in a controlled manner.
It was reported that flights are continuing in limited numbers with increased security measures.
