Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board, Prof. Dr Ahmet Bolat, answered Hakan Çelik’s questions on CNN Türk’s Weekend programme. He delivered key messages on a wide range of topics, from strategic collaborations in the aviation industry to new aircraft orders, green transformation and passenger demand.
“Our Agreement with Boeing Was Completed”
Bolat stated that the negotiations with Boeing, which had been ongoing for 2.5 years, were concluded regarding pricing, saying, “We had to place our Boeing order. We do not purchase aircraft that have not yet proven themselves.” He also emphasised that the agreement with Boeing had nothing to do with politics: “Nothing about Turkish Airlines was discussed at the Erdoğan–Trump summit.”
Ambitious Goal: A Fleet of 813 Aircraft
Announcing Turkish Airlines’ 2033 vision, Bolat underlined the size of the fleet: “By 2033, our fleet will reach 813 aircraft — that’s our target,” he said. He noted that the new agreements with Airbus and Boeing would strengthen Turkey’s global position in aviation.
The Route to the Future of Aviation
Bolat highlighted that new cabin concepts, innovations most demanded by passengers, artificial intelligence applications and sustainability-oriented investments would shape the future of aviation in the coming period. He also announced that starting from 2026, passengers would be offered more options with the addition of new destinations.
