During the visit, key information regarding Turkish Airlines’ financial results for 2024 was shared, alongside an evaluation of Turkey’s achievements over the past 20 years.
Turkish Airlines’ Contributions to the Economy in 2024
Ahmet Bolat highlighted the steadily increasing contribution of Turkish Airlines to the national economy. As of 2024, the total employment provided by Turkish Airlines and its subsidiaries exceeded 95,000, while service exports reached $18 billion. He also stated that, including indirect effects, the airline’s contribution to the Turkish economy in 2024 had risen to $60 billion, with a target of reaching $100 billion by 2028.
Turkish Airlines and Its Role in the Tourism Sector
Beyond its economic contributions, Turkish Airlines continues to make a significant impact on tourism and trade. In 2024, the airline carried approximately 16 million of the 62.2 million tourists visiting Turkey, generating an economic contribution of $14.2 billion. Bolat noted that through Turkey Promotion Events, millions of people worldwide had been introduced to Turkey’s rich culture and natural beauty. He also highlighted the Turkish Airlines Holidays brand, which offers special holiday packages to inbound tourists, covering more than 200 destinations across over 60 countries. This initiative has made a substantial contribution to Turkish tourism, with plans to expand its scope even further in the future.
A Special Project from Turkish Airlines: The 500th Aircraft
During the visit, Turkish Airlines announced a special project for the future. Bolat revealed that the airline’s 500th aircraft, set to join the fleet in the coming months, would be adorned with photographs of retired and current employees who have contributed to the company’s success. This symbolic aircraft will represent the unity and strength of the Turkish Airlines family as they continue to soar to new heights.
