Record Year Across the Global Network
Airports operated by the Aena Group closed 2025 with 384,837,183 passengers, marking a 4.2% increase compared to 2024. During the same period, aircraft movements rose by 2.4% to 3,279,864, while air cargo traffic increased by 7.9% to 1,533,901 tonnes.
Aena’s global network comprises 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport, and 17 airports in Brazil.
Strong December 2025 Figures
In December 2025 alone, 27,929,791 passengers passed through Aena Group airports, representing a 3.7% increase compared to December 2024. During the same month:
- 240,756 aircraft movements (0.6% increase)
- 137,236 tonnes of cargo (10.1% increase) were recorded.
Historic Congestion at Spanish Airports
Aena airports in Spain served 321,587,316 passengers in 2025 (3.9% increase).
- Aircraft movements: 2,696,414 (4.1% increase)
- Cargo traffic: 1,372,394 tonnes (7.2% increase)
Busiest airports:
- Madrid-Barajas: 68.17 million passengers (3% increase)
- Barcelona-El Prat: 57.48 million passengers (4.4% increase)
- Palma de Mallorca: 33.8 million passengers
- Málaga-Costa del Sol: 26.76 million passengers (7.4% increase)
In 2025, all-time passenger records were broken at 23 airports and heliports across Spain.
Peak Levels in Aircraft Movements and Cargo
Madrid-Barajas became Spain’s busiest airport with 430,616 flights. Barcelona-El Prat and Palma de Mallorca also set operational records.
On the cargo side:
- Madrid-Barajas: 840,331 tonnes (9.6% increase)
- Barcelona-El Prat: 200,741 tonnes (10.5% increase)
Both airports reached their highest cargo volumes of all time.
Growth in Brazil and London Luton
In Brazil, 17 airports operated by Aena Brasil served 45.68 million passengers in 2025 (5.3% increase). Cargo traffic rose by 20.9% to 133,972 tonnes.
At London Luton Airport, passenger numbers reached 17.56 million (4.9% increase). While aircraft movements increased, a limited decline in cargo volume was recorded.
Investment and Expansion Plans
Aena has reached the final stage of its investment and modernisation plans to meet the future capacity needs of airports in Spain. Record traffic levels have once again highlighted the importance of infrastructure expansion and increased operational capacity.
