A €3.1 Billion Jet Move from Colombia! 17 Gripen E/Fs on the Way

Saab signs a €3.1 billion contract with Colombia to begin the procurement of 17 Gripen E/F fighter jets. Deliveries will take place between 2026 and 2032.

Saab has announced that it has signed a €3.1 billion contract with the Government of Colombia for the procurement of 17 Gripen E/F fighter aircraft. Under the agreement, deliveries will be carried out between 2026 and 2032, playing a critical role in the modernisation of the Colombian Air Force.

Scope of the Order

The contract includes 15 single-seat Gripen E, 2 dual-seat Gripen F aircraft, as well as weapon systems, equipment, training packages, and operational support services.

The Gripen E/F platforms stand out with their advanced sensors, electronic warfare capability, low operating cost, and modern multirole combat capabilities.

Offset Agreements Covering Military and Social Projects

In addition to the aircraft procurement, Saab and the Colombian Government signed two offset agreements that offer a comprehensive industrial cooperation package.

These agreements lay the foundation for long-term projects that will contribute to Colombia in various fields such as aviation, cyber security, health technologies, sustainable energy solutions, and water purification systems.

Statement from Saab CEO Johansson

Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson highlighted the importance of the agreement in terms of the strategic partnership between the countries, stating:
