The Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen launched new attacks on Israel and the United States following the ceasefire in Gaza. The Houthis targeted Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, and Eilat with drones, and the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman was also among the targets.
Israel and Hamas Reach a Ceasefire
After over a year of conflict in Gaza, which claimed the lives of more than 50,000 Palestinians, a ceasefire has been reached between Hamas and Israel. Despite the ceasefire, the Houthis have continued their attacks, previously targeting Israeli-linked tanker ships in the Red Sea during the conflict.
Houthi Strikes on Three Israeli Cities
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced on their Al-Masirah TV channel:
“We carried out three drone strikes on targets in Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, and Eilat.”
Drone Attack on a US Aircraft Carrier
In addition to attacks on Israel, the Houthis also targeted the United States. Saree stated that Yemen’s northern city of Amran was hit by five US airstrikes and announced a drone attack on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman.
