Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that direct flights between Trabzon and Saudi Arabia will commence on June 4th. These flights, continuing throughout the summer, will allow travel from Trabzon to both Jeddah and Riyadh. Additionally, Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that there is a flight request from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to Trabzon, which will also commence in the near future and will last until Monday, September 30, 2024.
Speaking at the “Trabzon Tourism Summit: From Trabzon to the World” held in Trabzon, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the increase in Turkey’s tourism revenue. He reminded that last year, Turkey achieved a tourism revenue of $54.3 billion with 56.7 million visitors, attributing this success to security policies and transportation investments.
Uraloğlu stated that efforts are being made to increase Trabzon’s tourism potential. He announced that the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Trabzon increased by 38% in 2023, highlighting the popularity of the city’s tourist attractions.
Uraloğlu expressed the aim to extend Trabzon’s tourism season throughout the year rather than limiting it to the summer months, emphasizing that the city’s natural beauty and cultural heritage should appeal to visitors in every season.
Minister Uraloğlu also mentioned that expansion works are ongoing at Trabzon Airport and that a new airport project has been included in the investment program. He stated that a runway of 3,240 meters in length and 45 meters in width will be constructed, and a new airport capable of accommodating 15 million passengers annually will be realized.
