Countdown to the Third Flight of the National Combat Aircraft KAAN

The domestically developed combat aircraft KAAN, designed by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) to meet the needs of the Turkish Air Force, is scheduled to perform its third flight by the end of the year.

Preparations for KAAN’s third flight are in full swing under the leadership of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ). TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu stated that work is progressing as planned for the third flight, which is expected to take place within this year.

Intensive Testing Phase Begins for 2028 Delivery

Sharing details about KAAN’s pre-production testing phase, Demiroğlu explained that the P1 and P2 prototypes will be ready by the end of 2025, marking the start of rigorous testing. He further announced that the P4 and P5 prototypes will join the testing process in 2026.

“We are taking all the necessary steps for the 2028 delivery. During this process, conducting fast and comprehensive tests is critical,” said Demiroğlu, emphasising the importance of avoiding delays in the testing phase.

On Track Without Delays

Demiroğlu underlined that while minor deviations are natural in development programs, the KAAN project is progressing as planned. He affirmed:

“As of now, there are no delays. Our plan for the 2028 delivery is intact, and we are working according to this schedule. If any changes arise, we will inform the public.”

KAAN to Take to the Skies in 2025

Demiroğlu expressed confidence that the KAAN prototypes will be airborne by the end of 2025, saying:
“God willing, we will see our KAAN aircraft in the skies by the end of 2025. We are working tirelessly on a project that will be a source of pride for all of us.”
