Mehmet Nane, President of TÖSHİD (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies), highlighted the impact of competitive campaigns, stating, “Campaigns create opportunities for travel, possibly increasing the number of passengers who have never flown before or fly infrequently.” Nane also serves as the Vice President of the Civil Aviation Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
Visitor Traffic Extending Throughout the Year
Nane emphasized that seasonal visitor traffic has now extended throughout the year, attributing this trend to an increase in air travel. He noted that the number of airport passengers, including transit passengers, rose from 182.2 million in 2022 to 214.2 million by the end of last year. Nane stated that the industry has supported this growth with significant investments, continuing to contribute to expansion.
Increasing Demand for Foreign Visitors to Turkey
Mehmet Nane pointed out the increasing demand for foreign visitors to Turkey, attributing this to campaigns organized by airlines that enhance travel opportunities for guests. He highlighted that such campaigns have increased the number of passengers who have either never flown before or fly infrequently.
Rising Expectations with the Increase in Campaigns
Nane mentioned that there is a broader inventory available abroad compared to domestically, making it more feasible to offer advantageous campaigns. He noted that guests particularly anticipate campaigns targeting international destinations, leading to increased traffic on airline websites and mobile applications during such periods.
