A helicopter crash off the coast of Kauai Island in the U.S. state of Hawaii has resulted in one fatality, with search efforts ongoing for two missing individuals.
Yesterday at approximately 1:20 PM local time, a Robinson R44 tour helicopter crashed into the ocean. According to a police statement, one person’s body has been recovered, and search operations continue for the two missing individuals.
Kauai County Mayor Derek Kawakami expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, stating, “We do not yet know all the details of the incident. However, we know that our first responders are doing everything they can in this emergency operation.”
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the crash. Officials have announced that a thorough examination will be conducted to determine the cause of the accident. Search and rescue teams are intensively continuing their efforts off the coast of Kauai Island.
