Alp Er Tunga Ersoy has been appointed as the new CEO of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG). Ersoy will commence his role on June 24, 2024.
In a statement regarding the appointment, Mohamed Rastam Shahrom, Acting CEO of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the terminal operator of Sabiha Gökçen Airport, said, “We have full confidence that Ersoy, with his global experience and extensive knowledge in the aviation sector, will strengthen our operations and strategically elevate ISG to an even better level. With increasing passenger traffic each day, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, under Ersoy’s leadership, will continue to enhance industry standards in operational efficiency, customer experience, and sustainability, ensuring operational excellence.”
Expressing his excitement about leading Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport during a significant period of growth, Alp Er Tunga Ersoy said, “I am immensely pleased to return to my country after 18 years to serve on such a wonderful occasion. I am proud and equally excited to be a part of an airport that is recognized not only in Turkey but globally, and to join the successful team of MAHB. We will work to further solidify ISG’s position in the aviation sector and elevate customer satisfaction to even higher levels.”
Ersoy graduated from Dokuz Eylül University School of Tourism and Hospitality, followed by the Faculty of Business Administration at Eskişehir Anadolu University, and the Professional Aviation MBA program at Austria’s Danube University. He began his aviation career in 1999 as a Terminal Duty Officer and subsequently held positions including Terminal Duty Manager, Airport Manager, Deputy General Manager responsible for operations, and General Manager. He has actively participated in all operational, financial, and administrative processes of airport management, excluding air traffic control tower operations.
Most recently, Ersoy led the commissioning of the new international terminal at Almaty Airport, bringing with him international experience and successes in airport management. He spent the last 18 years of his 24-year career in airport management abroad (in Georgia, North Macedonia, and Kazakhstan), holding senior executive roles at Tbilisi, Batumi, Skopje, Ohrid, and Almaty airports since 2017.
Throughout his career, Ersoy has gained extensive experience in the takeover of international airport operations, managing relations with government officials at the level of government representatives, implementing company policies on the ground, improving operational processes, enhancing customer satisfaction, digitization, overseeing construction processes, and ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer).
