Historic Buildings of Istanbul Revitalised for Tourism

AYS Academia enhances Istanbul tourism with Orientbank and Orient Occident Hotels. Historic buildings meet luxury accommodation and authentic local experiences.

AYS Academia Meets Tourism Press in Istanbul: Two Historic Buildings Reborn as Hotels

Operating in the hospitality sector under the Orientbank Hotel Istanbul Autograph Collection and Orient Occident Hotel Istanbul Autograph Collection brands, and hosting Roof Mezzopotamia in gastronomy as well as Gregor Jazz Club in entertainment, AYS Academia came together with members of the tourism press.

Blending Local Elements with Global Standards

Speaking at the meeting, AYS Academia executives emphasised that the hotels source their goods and services from local businesses. Instead of a classic buffet breakfast, carefully selected local products are served. From music to architecture, every detail remains faithful to local cultural elements.

“We Aim to Maximise Guest Satisfaction”

AYS Academia Board Member Barış Çolak stated that they combine Turkish hospitality with Marriott’s international standards, adding that their largest market is North America, followed by the UK and China.

Historic Buildings Revitalised for Tourism

AYS Academia Board Member Fırat Yıldıran highlighted that the Orientbank and Orient Occident hotels were transformed from historic buildings:

“It gives us greater joy to revitalise existing buildings for tourism. We want to preserve Istanbul’s historical heritage.”

SAVUR GYO Preparing for Public Offering

Yıldıran also announced that the company, which is active in the construction sector as well, is in the process of going public through SAVUR GYO. He added that they expect the IPO to take place in September–October with the approval of the Capital Markets Board (CMB).

Rising Costs Challenge the Tourism Sector

Addressing the issue of rising costs, Barış Çolak noted that the price perception in Istanbul is not sustainable, and price increases have particularly negative impacts on mid- and lower-segment businesses.
