Turkish Airlines (THY) is preparing to increase the frequency of its Sydney flights and switch to daily services starting in January 2026. The airline, which launched the Istanbul-Sydney route on November 29, 2024, has decided to expand capacity on this route due to high demand.
Currently, flights between Istanbul and Sydney are operated with a Kuala Lumpur connection four times a week. In June 2025, this frequency will increase to five times a week, and by the end of October 2025, it will rise to six times. Starting in January 2026, flights will be scheduled daily to align with Australia’s summer season.
The Istanbul-Kuala Lumpur-Sydney route, covering 8,082 nautical miles (14,968 km), is one of THY’s longest flight routes. The airline uses Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on this route to provide passengers with a comfortable travel experience.
This expansion highlights Turkish Airlines’ efforts to strengthen its presence in the Australian market and is part of the airline’s long-haul flight strategy for the continent. THY currently also operates Melbourne flights with a Singapore connection and continues to explore new destinations in the region.
