Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made significant announcements about Trabzon Airport during his inspections in Trabzon. Minister Uraloğlu stated that 817 flights from Saudi Arabia to Trabzon are planned for the summer season.
Increasing Traffic at Trabzon Airport
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted that Trabzon Airport is one of the busiest airports in Turkey. He mentioned, “Our current airport served approximately 3.5 million passengers on domestic and international flights in 2023, ranking 9th among the country’s airports.”
Extensive Flight Network
Minister Uraloğlu noted that Trabzon Airport offers connections to 20 different destinations in 11 countries through 19 different airlines for international flights, and to 8 different locations through 4 different airlines for domestic flights. He also announced the commencement of direct flights between Trabzon and Saudi Arabia. During the summer season, it is possible to travel directly from Trabzon to both Jeddah and Riyadh.
2024 Flight Plans
Uraloğlu revealed that a total of 817 flights from Trabzon to Saudi Arabia are planned by Turkish Airlines, Flynas, and Flyadeal for the summer season of 2024. He emphasized that these flights will boost Trabzon’s tourism and economy and provide great convenience for citizens traveling for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. He also added that Turkish Airlines conducted 4 Hajj flights in May.
With the increasing number of flights and expanding transportation network, Trabzon Airport is expected to continue being a significant aviation hub for the region.
