A YAK-130 military training aircraft belonging to the Vietnam Air Force crashed in Dak Lak province due to a technical malfunction. The pilot survived using the ejection seat, and his health condition is stable.

A YAK-130 military training aircraft belonging to the Vietnam Air Force crashed into a mountainous area during a training flight in Dak Lak province, located in the central part of the country. It was announced that the pilot survived by using the ejection seat and that his health condition is stable.

Communication lost after technical malfunction

In a statement by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence, it was noted that the YAK-130 aircraft took off as part of a planned training mission, but shortly after take-off, contact with air traffic units was lost due to a technical malfunction.

It was stated that the pilot, unable to resolve the malfunction, diverted the aircraft to an area away from residential zones in order to prevent possible loss of life and property, and then exited the aircraft using the ejection seat.

No damage to residential areas

It was announced that the aircraft crashed on Mount Hon Vinh and that no residential areas were damaged in the incident. The pilot was taken from the scene with the help of local residents and transferred to hospital, where his health condition was reported to be stable.

Investigation launched

Authorities announced that an official investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident. It was stated that the technical examination will focus on the malfunction that occurred on the aircraft and on operational processes.
