Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that airports across Türkiye served a total of 211,240,360 passengers in the first ten months of 2025.
Uraloğlu evaluated the October air traffic data on aircraft, passengers, and cargo released by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
17.3% Increase in Aircraft Traffic
The Minister stated that in October, 88,182 domestic and 92,044 international flights were operated, while total aircraft traffic, including overflights, reached 232,636.
Compared to the same period last year, total aircraft traffic increased by 17.3%.
23.8 Million Passengers Travelled in October
In October, 8,911,500 domestic and 14,915,851 international passengers were served. Including direct transit passengers, total passenger traffic reached 23,842,682.
Uraloğlu said, “Passenger traffic increased by 13.5% compared to the same month last year.”
During this period, 79,985 tonnes of domestic and 401,511 tonnes of international cargo were handled, totalling 481,495 tonnes.
Over 2 Million Flights in the First 10 Months of the Year
Between January and October, 834,934 domestic and 803,738 international flights were operated across Türkiye. Including overflights, total aircraft traffic reached 2,121,141 — an 8.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, 85,495,784 domestic and 125,615,590 international passengers were carried.
Including direct transit passengers, total passenger traffic reached 211,240,360 — representing a 6.2% year-on-year increase.
Cargo Traffic Exceeded 4.3 Million Tonnes
Minister Uraloğlu stated that during the ten-month period, total cargo traffic amounted to 4,325,634 tonnes — 792,599 tonnes on domestic routes and 3,533,035 tonnes on international routes.
Istanbul Airport Served 7.6 Million Passengers
In October, Istanbul Airport recorded a total of 48,502 flights — 10,850 domestic and 37,652 international.
During this period, the airport served a total of 7,632,493 passengers.
Between January and October, Istanbul Airport handled 459,073 flights and 70,493,901 passengers, maintaining its position as Türkiye’s busiest airport.
4.4 Million Passengers at Sabiha Gökçen
At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 1,880,601 domestic and 2,562,274 international passengers travelled in October, making a total of 4,442,875 passengers.
In the first ten months of the year, the airport served 40,070,923 passengers in total.
Minister Uraloğlu said, “Istanbul and Sabiha Gökçen airports together served 110,564,824 passengers in ten months — seven times the population of the megacity.”
Tourism Hubs Reached 57.5 Million Passengers
Airports in major tourism destinations handled a total of 57,586,925 passengers between January and October — 16,713,090 domestic and 40,873,835 international.
During this period:
- Antalya Airport: 36,316,172 passengers
- Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport: 10,776,686 passengers
- Muğla Dalaman Airport: 5,400,656 passengers
- Milas-Bodrum Airport: 4,177,364 passengers
- Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport: 916,047 passengers
