A “Support for Turkish Sports” agreement, which will provide long-term contributions to Turkish sports, has been signed between Turkish Airlines (THY) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Under the agreement, federations and athletes will benefit from broader transportation support.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak highlighted the rising value of sports in Turkey and said:

“Today we are signing a very important protocol for Turkish sports. THY is our flag carrier, our pride in the skies. Thanks to the importance our President attaches to sports and the investments made, Turkey has now become a sports nation. Along with stadiums, sports halls, and modern facilities, our country is also a sports tourism destination. Thanks to THY’s contributions, our athletes can easily reach international competitions, and this is a great motivation for us.”

Minister Bak underlined that transportation costs place a significant burden on federations, and with this new protocol, that burden will be eased. He also reminded that major events such as the 2032 European Football Championship, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Conference League finals will be hosted in Turkey, adding: “Behind these achievements stands our strong flag carrier.”

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, stated that the athletes’ achievements are the nation’s shared pride, saying:

“In the past 20 years, through our collaborations with federations, we have provided more than 200 million dollars in support to Turkish sports. We have transported thousands of athletes across the world. With this new protocol, we will directly support 63 federations under the ministry. This cooperation will allow us to be part of our athletes’ success stories.”

Following the protocol ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed between the two institutions, emphasising that the agreement will deliver long-term contributions to Turkish sports.
