Turkish Airlines (THY) and AJet have announced that they will integrate miles in the Miles&Smiles program according to the demands of citizens. With this integration, Miles&Smiles members will be able to earn and redeem miles on AJet flights. By combining flight segments of THY and AJet, passengers will be able to plan their round trips starting from a specific point with THY and returning with AJet. Additionally, passengers flying with AJet will be able to use THY’s CIP lounges for a fee.
AJet currently operates 85 aircraft, serving 41 domestic destinations and 74 routes, as well as 48 international destinations and 90 routes. However, some citizens have expressed concerns regarding this new collaboration to the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Petition Commission. Particularly, questions have been raised about whether THY’s facilities such as CIP lounges, Miles&Smiles, and mile expenditures will be the same as those of AJet.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Petition Commission has forwarded these concerns to the Ministry of Transportation, requesting clarification on the matter. The Ministry of Transportation has stated that AJet is owned by THY and has started operating its own flights with the VF code as of January 2024. Regarding not operating flights from Ankara, the Ministry has emphasized that air transport companies operate as commercial entities under free market conditions and that it does not have direct intervention authority in this matter.
