Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, Chairman of the Board of Turkish Airlines, announced that they hosted UK Minister for Trade Sir Chris Bryant and his delegation at the Istanbul Airport Operations Center. During the meeting, cooperation opportunities between the two countries in aviation, technology, and investment were discussed, while Turkish Technic’s Rolls-Royce engine maintenance center investment was among the main agenda items.
Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, Chairman of the Board of Turkish Airlines (THY), announced that UK Minister for Trade Sir Chris Bryant and his delegation were hosted at the Operations Center at Istanbul Airport. Şeker stated that the discussions focused on THY’s operations in the United Kingdom, the impact of the economic relations between the two countries on the aviation sector, and future cooperation opportunities.
Şeker recalled that Turkish Airlines operated its first commercial flight to the United Kingdom in 1961 and noted that the airline currently operates scheduled flights to five destinations in the country.
Operations Center and Technical Infrastructure Introduced to the Delegation
As part of the visit, the UK delegation was introduced to THY’s Operations Control Center and technical maintenance infrastructure at Istanbul Airport.
Rolls-Royce-Powered Airbus A350 Inspected
During the program, the delegation also inspected the Rolls-Royce-powered Airbus A350 in the fleet, while detailed information was shared about the technical maintenance, engineering, and operational capabilities of THY and Turkish Technic.
Rolls-Royce Engine Maintenance Center to Enhance Global Competitiveness
Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker emphasized that Turkish Airlines’ relationship with Rolls-Royce extends beyond that of a commercial customer and has evolved into a strategic partnership.
Will Provide Services for Trent XWB and Trent 7000 Engines
Şeker stated that the foundation of the Rolls-Royce authorized engine maintenance center established under Turkish Technic represents a significant investment for the company, Türkiye, and the global aviation ecosystem.
He noted that the new facility will provide maintenance services for Rolls-Royce’s next-generation Trent XWB and Trent 7000 engines and is expected to become one of the largest engine maintenance facilities in the world.
With this investment, THY aims to further strengthen its competitiveness in the global Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) market.

Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker stated that they believe the growing cooperation between Türkiye and the United Kingdom in aviation, technology, and investment will become even stronger in the coming period.
Şeker emphasized that they will continue developing joint projects that add value to the future of the aviation industry, noting that international partnerships will make significant contributions to both Turkish Airlines and Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem.
