SunExpress, the joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, is set to significantly expand its European flight network with the 2026 summer schedule. The airline will launch ten new European routes, including four in Germany, connecting 23 airports across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with 21 destinations in Türkiye.
New Departure Points from Germany
Starting in March 2026, SunExpress will launch flights for the first time from Memmingen (Allgäu Airport). The new route will connect the region with Antalya five times a week. During the peak summer season, from 11 May to 24 June 2026 and from 2 August to 19 September 2026, flights will operate daily.
The airline will also operate two weekly flights from Hanover and Munich to Edremit (Balıkesir Koca Seyit Airport) in western Türkiye, and one weekly flight from Düsseldorf to Hatay.
Targeted Expansion to Meet Growing Demand
SunExpress Chief Commercial Officer Helmut Wölfel stated that the new routes were planned in response to the growing demand for ethnic travel between Germany and Türkiye. “The newly added flights to Edremit and Hatay offer more accessible travel options for the Turkish community living in Europe. This targeted expansion strengthens SunExpress’s position in both the ethnic and leisure travel markets,” Wölfel said.
New Routes Across Europe
SunExpress also plans to expand its Western European network by adding three new routes from Great Britain. With these new destinations, the airline further solidifies its position as one of the leading carriers offering direct flights between Europe and Türkiye.
