Mehmet Demiroğlu, the General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), announced that Turkey’s indigenous helicopter, GÖKBEY, made its first international flight demonstration in England and received significant attention. Demiroğlu also stated that HÜRJET, HÜRKUŞ, and AKSUNGUR garnered considerable interest, with ongoing export negotiations with countries in Africa, Central Asia, and the Far East.
Turkish Presence at Farnborough Fair: TUSAŞ Products Draw Major Interest
Speaking to the press at the Farnborough International Airshow in England, Demiroğlu emphasized TUSAŞ’s capabilities in design, production, testing, and flight. He highlighted that GÖKBEY’s first international flight demonstration marked a significant milestone, aiming for high quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely production.
Countdown for KAAN Prototype: First Flight by Late 2025
Demiroğlu reported rapid progress on other KAAN prototypes, with the second prototype expected to be released by the end of next year and its first flight scheduled for late 2025. He mentioned efforts to address supply chain disruptions and emphasized prioritizing the needs of the Defense Industry Presidency and other customers.
Intense Interest and Export Negotiations: TUSAŞ Products Shine
Demiroğlu noted the intense interest in products like GÖKBEY, HÜRJET, HÜRKUŞ, and AKSUNGUR, revealing that they are working on some contracts and advanced negotiations are ongoing. He mentioned that HÜRJET has attracted interest from a European country and is set to visit Egypt in September. He explained that these are lengthy business development processes, with international customers observing the domestic interest in Turkey.
Delivery to the Gendarmerie: Three GÖKBEY Helicopters in August
Demiroğlu reminded that a contract was signed with the Turkish Air Force for HÜRJET and HÜRKUŞ and announced the delivery of three GÖKBEY helicopters to the Gendarmerie General Command in August. He noted that the initial offers in GÖKBEY’s sales processes would include a domestic engine, but they plan to offer two options to international customers.
New 10-Ton Heavy Class Helicopter: A Major Step from TUSAŞ
Demiroğlu stated that HÜRJET is designed for training purposes and fills a significant gap in such aircraft. He mentioned their focused efforts on 10-ton heavy class helicopters, emphasizing the international interest in GÖKBEY and other domestic aviation products and their high export potential.
