Russia: $170,000 Reward for the First Destroyed F-15 and F-16

A company operating in Russia has announced a monetary reward for the first F-15 and F-16 fighter jets shot down in Ukraine. A company official stated, “The reward for the first ones destroyed will be 15 million rubles.”

According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, cash rewards were given today at a ceremony for some Leopard and Abrams tanks destroyed in the conflicts in Ukraine. Speaking at the ceremony and distributing the rewards, FORES company’s Vice President Ilya Potanin said, “Today we gave monetary rewards for 17 Abrams and Leopard tanks. Each was awarded 500,000 rubles.”

Potanin mentioned that they decided to offer similar rewards for fighter jets, stating, “There will also be incentives for the destruction of F-15 and F-16 fighter jets. The reward for the first ones destroyed will be 15 million rubles.” This reward equates to approximately $170,000.

On July 10, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that a coalition consisting of the US, the Netherlands, and Denmark is working to provide F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Austin said, “The transfer of F-16s is officially ongoing, and Ukraine will fly F-16s this summer.”
