Japan-based Nakanihon Air has taken delivery of its first P.180 Avanti EVO aircraft from Piaggio Aerospace, which is owned by Baykar, while the JCAB has recognised the aircraft’s type certificate for the Japanese market.
Japan-based aviation company Nakanihon Air has taken delivery of the first P.180 Avanti EVO aircraft produced by Piaggio Aerospace, owned by Baykar. The aircraft departed from Genoa and, after transiting the airspace of Greece, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, India and Vietnam, landed at Nagoya Airport.
Simultaneously with the delivery process, the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) officially recognised the Type Certificate for the P.180 Avanti on behalf of the Japanese market. This development is regarded as an important step that paves the way for Avanti EVO operations in Japan.
“The Japanese Market Is a Major Milestone for Us”
Giovanni Tomassini, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Piaggio Aerospace, owned by Baykar, made the following remarks regarding the delivery:
“We are particularly excited that the P.180 Avanti will be operated in Japan. Avanti is already in service with a large number of operators in various roles. This clearly demonstrates the aircraft’s versatility in special missions.”
Referring to recent deliveries, Tomassini emphasised the growing global demand for the Avanti EVO and stated:
“In just three months, the Avanti EVO has entered two new markets. First, a sale of two aircraft to a customer in Turkey, followed by this delivery to Japan, confirms the strong international demand for the aircraft, for which we plan to increase annual production to the level of 25–30 units.”
Japan’s First P.180 Avanti Operator
With this delivery, Nakanihon Air has become the first P.180 Avanti operator in Japan, while also demonstrating its determination to modernise its fleet and expand its service areas.
Nakanihon Air operates a fleet consisting of 57 helicopters and 7 fixed-wing aircraft, providing charter flights, transport, emergency medical services (EMS) and aerial surveillance missions.
