A new international air cargo route connecting Ezhou in China’s Hubei province with Budapest, the capital of Hungary, was inaugurated on Monday. According to a statement by SF Airlines, the Ezhou-Budapest cargo route is the first air cargo route connecting Ezhou Huahu Airport, China’s first cargo-focused airport, to Hungary. This is also SF Airlines’ third route from this airport to Europe.
The route will operate with B747-400 cargo aircraft, with one round-trip flight planned each week, transporting over 200 tons of cargo weekly. The company states that the direct air route will primarily transport express packages and e-commerce products. The route will also expand air logistics channels between the two countries and enhance China-Europe economic interaction.
Ezhou Huahu Airport, which became operational in July 2022, serves a limited number of passengers in addition to handling significant cargo traffic. The first international cargo route from this airport was launched by SF Airlines in April 2023.
Headquartered in Shenzhen, SF Airlines is the largest air cargo carrier in China by fleet size. The company transports cargo from Ezhou to destinations in Europe, North America, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia.
