New Era in Pilot Licence Exams: Flexible Exam System to Launch on 15 August

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA ) is making a significant change to the theoretical knowledge exams for pilot licences. The new exam system, set to launch on 15 August, will give candidates complete flexibility in the application and scheduling process.

With the new regulation, fixed exam periods will be abolished. After submitting their application, candidates will be able to choose any available date from the system to sit the exam. The application portal will remain open continuously, and transactions can be completed instantly.

The exam process will consist of two stages: a preliminary exam and a final exam. The preliminary exam will account for 10% of the final grade, while the final exam will account for 90%. A single payment will cover entry to both exams, with no changes to fees. Payment options will be expanded to include credit card payments via virtual POS.

To ensure exam security, each candidate will use an assigned computer and receive a unique set of questions, with QR codes, time and location stamps, and video recording in place. Following the preliminary exam, candidates will be able to view section-based performance charts.

Exams will be held in any city or district based on demand, providing candidates with a faster and more convenient testing experience. DGCA officials stated that the new system will make the process more candidate-focused for entry into aviation professions such as pilots, technicians, and air traffic controllers.

The institution also plans to announce new regulations for other aviation professions in the near future.
