The Ministry of National Defence (MoD) announced that a ballistic munition entering Türkiye’s airspace was neutralised by NATO air and missile defence elements deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Confirmed to Have Been Fired from Iran
In a written statement issued by the MoD, it was stated that the munition in question was determined to have been fired from Iran. The statement noted that the threat entered Turkish airspace and was monitored in real time before being intercepted.

NATO Elements Activated
It was reported that the ballistic munition was destroyed by NATO air and missile defence systems operating in the Eastern Mediterranean. The intervention was carried out swiftly within the framework of defence cooperation in the region.
“Necessary Measures Are Taken with Determination”
In its statement, the Ministry of National Defence emphasised that all necessary measures are taken with determination against any threats directed at Türkiye’s airspace and territory. The statement included the following remarks:
“A ballistic munition, identified as having been fired from Iran and having entered Turkish airspace, has been neutralised by NATO air and missile defence elements deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean. All necessary measures are taken decisively and without hesitation against any threat directed at our country’s territory and airspace, and all developments in the region are closely monitored with our national security as a priority.”
Developments in the Region Closely Monitored
Authorities stated that military activity in and around the Eastern Mediterranean is being closely monitored, and that early warning and defence systems are actively operating against potential threats.
