IGA and FedEx Join Forces: Istanbul Becomes FedEx’s Strategic Global Logistics Hub
FedEx, one of the world’s leading express transportation companies, has officially opened its new global air transit facility at Istanbul Airport. The opening ceremony was attended by Istanbul Airport District Governor Mehmet İlker Haktankaçmaz, İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen, and many other officials.
A Strategic Hub in Global Operations
FedEx Corporation President and CEO Raj Subramaniam highlighted Istanbul’s strategic importance for the company, stating:
“Istanbul plays a critical role in our global operations. The new facility will strengthen our connections across six continents while supporting the growth of trade and e-commerce.”
Contribution to Türkiye’s Aviation Vision
İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen emphasised that this investment reinforces Türkiye’s strategic position in the aviation sector, saying:
“This facility supports our goal of becoming a strong player in international cargo operations.”

The ceremony was also attended by Abdullah Enis Eker, Chief Director of Istanbul Airport at the State Airports Authority, Burhan Akyol, Istanbul Representative of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and İGA executives.
