Domestic HUPS Software Commissioned by HEAS: A Digital Era at Sabiha Gökçen

The Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport Airport Authority HEAS has commissioned the domestic Flight Planning and Monitoring System (HUPS) software. While reducing system costs, it also increases security and operational efficiency.

A Domestic Era in Flight Management at Sabiha Gökçen

The Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport Authority HEAS has moved its flight planning and monitoring processes to a domestic software infrastructure. The HEAS Flight Planning and Monitoring System (HUPS), developed using the organisation’s own resources, has officially been commissioned.

Operations previously carried out with foreign-origin systems will now be fully managed through software developed by HEAS engineers. This has both reduced costs and elevated data security to a higher level.

Costs Reduced, Security Increased

Thanks to HUPS being developed in-house:

  • Licence and maintenance costs were eliminated
  • Operational data security was elevated to the highest level
  • Potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities were prevented
  • Operational sustainability was ensured in line with the “zero error” vision

Full Integration with the Airport Ecosystem

HUPS operates not only within HEAS but also in integration with airport stakeholders.

Airlines such as Pegasus Airlines and AJet share seasonal flight plans and instant aircraft swap information bidirectionally through the system.

In addition:

The system, fully compatible with the DHMİ Slot Coordination Centre and the ASMGCS Ground Radar, provides instant data to the terminal operator, ground handling services, customs, and security units.

Instant Stand Management at the Ramp Tower

One of the system’s most critical areas of use has been Ramp Tower operations. Stand changes due to delays, early arrivals, or operational requirements during the day are updated within seconds.

According to the data, manual tracking and revision processes that previously took up 85 percent of staff time have gained a systematic and rapid structure with HUPS.

A “Digital Intelligence” Era in Heavy Traffic

HUPS also manages extraordinary situations.

Capacity analyses can be carried out through the system during meteorological challenges such as snow and fog or during high-traffic periods such as Formula 1 events. Delay analysis and traffic optimisation are performed using the statistical data obtained.

Thus, HEAS can manage air traffic through digital infrastructure even under the busiest and most challenging conditions.
