The aircraft, registered PS-GFC, was operating flight G3-9618 from São Paulo Guarulhos to Salvador on 9 May 2026. The aircraft, used as part of a cargo operation, landed on Runway 17 at Deputado Luiz Eduardo Magalhães International Airport at 07:27 local time.
Aircraft Overran the Runway End by Approximately 45 Metres
Following landing, the aircraft reportedly exceeded its stopping distance and overran the end of the runway. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft came to a stop approximately 45 metres beyond the runway end.
Initial information indicates that the incident occurred during the landing phase, while braking performance, runway surface conditions, and approach parameters are expected to be evaluated as part of the technical investigation.
Crew Escaped Unharmed
In a statement issued by the airline, it was noted that only the crew members were on board the aircraft and no injuries occurred. It was also learned that airport operations experienced a short-term disruption following the incident.
Boeing 737-800 aircraft are among the most widely used narrow-body models worldwide. However, during landings in tropical climate conditions, runway surface conditions, braking distance, and approach speed are of critical importance.
