Due to the closure of the airspace, Fly Erbil has redirected its Stuttgart and Düsseldorf services to Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi Airport on 2–3 March.
Following the airspace closure, Fly Erbil revised its flight planning and decided to temporarily redirect some of its Germany-origin services to Şırnak. The company activated an alternative operational plan in order to minimise passenger inconvenience.
As a result of the airspace closure, Fly Erbil decided to operate its Germany services temporarily via Türkiye. In this context, flights departing from Stuttgart and Düsseldorf have been scheduled to land in Şırnak.
Flights from the German cities of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf will be operated to Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi Airport on 2 and 3 March.
Additionally, the company’s flights scheduled for 3 and 6 March have also been arranged to arrive in Şırnak under the current planning.
According to the existing plan, passengers travelling from Germany will reach Şırnak via direct flight. Passengers continuing to Iraq will proceed with their journey by crossing the border overland from Şırnak.
It was stated that the operation may be updated again depending on developments in the airspace.
The main reason for the decision is the temporary closure of the airspace in the region. It is reported that alternative routing was implemented within the framework of security and operational requirements.
Passengers travelling from Germany to Iraq will be particularly affected by the arrangement. Company officials emphasised that passengers should follow up-to-date announcements before their flight.
