A firefighting plane operating in Milas sank while collecting water from Bafa Lake to assist with fire suppression efforts in Didim. The plane’s three crew members fortunately escaped the incident unharmed.
Immediately following the incident, efforts to salvage the plane from the depths of the lake began. Coast guard teams, aided by operators of Çeri Restaurant, located the plane. Subsequently, underwater teams from the gendarmerie used balloons to bring the plane to the surface.
Once the plane was floated to the surface, ropes were attached, and boats began the process of towing the wreckage to the shore. The objective is to safely transport the plane to the shoreline.
