Emirates Launches £100 Million Pilot Training Centre: A New Standard in Aviation
The newly opened £100 million state-of-the-art centre in Dubai increases Emirates’ simulator capacity by 54%, reaching 130,000 training hours per year.
Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has made a major investment in the future of its pilots. Officially inaugurated in Dubai, the new £100 million pilot training centre sets a new benchmark in global aviation training in terms of both capacity and technology.
A New Era in Pilot Training
Built on a 6,318-square-metre site, the centre houses six full flight simulator bays. Training has already begun with two Airbus A350 simulators, while four more devices, including advanced Boeing 777X simulators, will be added in the coming period.
Each simulator has the capacity to deliver 7,500 hours of training annually. Once fully operational, the facility will offer a total of 130,000 training hours with 17 simulators, boosting Emirates’ capacity by 54%.
Innovative Technologies
A standout feature of the centre is the Pilot Support Station (PSS), developed by Emirates engineers. This system allows pilots to carry out pre-flight preparation in a virtual cockpit. All training sessions are fully recorded, enabling detailed analysis of critical moments.
The centre also incorporates 3D printing technology. By producing complex parts for training equipment in-house, Emirates aims to save AED 1 million annually.
Global Recognition
The centre’s first Airbus A350 simulator has been awarded Level D certification by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, the highest possible rating for flight simulators. It is also the world’s first device to receive certification for the Airbus A350 Standard 1.3 with zero findings.
Investing in the Future of Aviation
The new centre will integrate with Emirates’ existing training facilities in Dubai, including the Flight Training Academy, Aviation University, Cabin Crew Training Centre, and Aviation College. It will provide advanced courses for both Emirates pilots and the global aviation community.
In parallel with the addition of Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft to its fleet, Emirates continues to recruit direct entry captains, fast-track command programme candidates, and first officer trainees.
